NOTICE OF PROPOSED COAST PROTECTION WORK

Eastleigh Borough Council, acting in their capacity as Coast Protection Authority, hereby give notice under Legislation section: section 5(1) of the above Act that they propose to carry out coast protection work as described herein at Netley Abbey. The work will consist of the construction of the following works to protect against coastal erosion:—

• 45m piling works at Nos 1 to 8 Ferryman’s Quay

• 104m gabion wall toe protection works fronting Netley Cliff and Malmesbury Court

• The estimated cost of the work is £0.5 million.

Details of the work proposed can be inspected by appointment between 10.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday at Eastleigh Borough Council, Leigh Road, Eastleigh, Hampshire. Any person may serve a written notice of objection to the proposal within 28 days of publication of this notice on the Secretary of State and on Eastleigh Borough Council.

Any such notice must contain a statement of the grounds of objection and must be delivered to or sent by pre-paid post to the Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Flood Management, Nobel House, 17 Smith Square, London SW1P 3JR, and to the Chief Executive of the Council at Civic Offices, Leigh Road, Eastleigh, Hampshire.
