PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990, SECTION 69
NOTICE OF AMENDMENTS TO PENRITH CONSERVATION AREA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT, under the provisions of Section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, Eden District Council has amended the boundaries of Penrith Conservation Area with effect from 4 May 2010.
The designated Penrith Conservation Area, shall now comprise the whole conservation area as declared in November 1975 as subsequently amended on 27 May 1976 and 16 April 1981, together with the removal of Lowther Court, Beatham Court and Grove Court, and the extension of parts of the eastern boundary to include Penrith railway station and properties on the south side of Brunswick Road.
The effect of conservation area designation is to increase controls over the demolition and alteration of buildings, and work to trees, and to assist the local planning authority in preserving or enhancing the special architectural or historic interest of the area through the assessment of applications for development and through other enhancement works.
A map showing the boundary of the revised area may be inspected at the offices of Eden District Council, Mansion House or Town Hall, Penrith, Cumbria, Mon - Thurs 08:45 to 17:15 and Friday 08:45 – 16:45 or on www.eden.gov.uk.
