DESIGNATION OF THE GREEN LANE (HEATON NORRIS) STOCKPORT CONSERVATION AREA
Notice is hereby given, under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act, section 69, that the Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council (“the Council”) has with effect from 31 October 2005, designated Green Lane (Heaton Norris) Stockport area as a Conservation Area. The following land and buildings are to be included in the Conservation area: The Green Lane (Heaton Norris) Stockport Conservation Area will include: 223-245 (odd) Green Lane, Heaton Norris SK4 2LZ; 216-254 (even) Green Lane, Heaton Norris SK4 2NA; 249-261 (odd) Green Lane, Heaton Norris SK4 2LZ; 285 Green Lane, Heaton Norris SK4 2LZ; Nursery Inn Public House, 258 Green Lane, Heaton Norris SK4 2NA; 266 Green Lane, Heaton Norris SK4 2NA; 268 Green Lane, Heaton Norris SK4 2NA; 2 a Nursery Road, Heaton Norris SK4 2NE; 2-44 (even) Nursery Road, Heaton Norris SK4 2NE; 2-6 (even) Mount Road, Heaton Norris SK4 2NB; 3-35 (odd) Mount Road, Heaton Norris SK4 2NB; Allotment Gardens to rear of Green Lane, Bowling Green to rear of Green Lane, Land extending south along Green Lane approximately 85 metres from the rear of 268 Green Lane. The effect of the designation is that: 1. In exercising certain functions including the determination of planning applications special attention will be paid to desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the conservation area. Planning applications for development, which will affect the character or appearance of the conservation area, will be advertised and representation made thereon taken into account. 2. Anyone proposing to cut down, top or lop any tree in the area, subject to certain exceptions, are required to give the local planning authority 6 weeks’ prior notice of the works, otherwise they may be guilty of an offence. 3. Subject to certain exceptions conservation area consent is required for the demolition of any building in the conservation area. 4. Planning permission is required for certain types of development that are elsewhere classified as permitted development by the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995. 5. Advertisement consent is required for the display of certain advertisements, which elsewhere may be displayed without express consent. 6. The local planning authority are now under a duty to formulate and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancement of the area. A map of the conservation area may be inspected, free of charge, during normal office hours at The Reception, Town Hall, Edward Street, Stockport, on Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 4.45 pm.
