NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A VARIATION OF A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Notice is hereby given that an application is being made to the Environment Agency by Severn Trent Water Limited, of 2297 Coventry Road, Birmingham B26 3PU, to vary licence number 3/28/3/208, at Old Hattons Farm, Pendeford Hall Lane, Coven, Wolverhampton WV9 5BD, (at grid Ref SJ 8898 0536) to abstract water from underground strata, for industrial process water and for agricultural uses other than spray irrigation. Existing Licence Details The purpose of the existing licence is for use in agriculture other than spray irrigation. The existing licence permits a maximum daily abstraction limit of 9.1 cubic metres, with an annual limit of 3,318.5 cubic metres. The licence is for an indefinite period of time. Proposed Licence Details The purpose of the new licence will be to permit the abstraction from an existing 30.9 metre deep borehole in the Sherwood Sandstone to supply a vehicle washing plant with industrial process water and for use at Old Hattons Farm for agricultural purposes other than spray irrigation. The proposed groundwater abstraction licence is for a total of 20,695 cubic metres per year for both purposes comprising 4,695 cubic metres per year for agriculture other than spray irrigation and 16,000 cubic metres per year for industrial process water. The daily abstracted quantities not exceeding 15 cubic metres for agriculture other than spray irrigation and 120 cubic metres for industrial process water, hourly abstracted quantities not exceeding 1 cubic metre for agriculture other than spray irrigation and 8 cubic metres for industrial process water. Abstraction for both purposes will take place throughout the year. A copy of the application and any maps, plans or other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours, at the offices of Severn Trent Water Ltd, at Old Hattons Farm, Pendeford Hall Lane, Coven, Wolverhampton WV9 5BD, during the period beginning on 3 March 2003 and ending on 31 March 2003.
