NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Environment Act 1995), that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Yorkshire Water Services Ltd, Western House, Halifax Road, Bradford BD6 2LZ, for variation of consent to discharge sewage effluent from Calder Vale Waste Water Treatment Works, Calder Vale Road, Wakefield, into the River Calder from an existing outlet at National Grid Ref SE 3507 2041. The application is in respect of essential improvement works at the site which include the construction of a new biological treatment plant and final settlement tanks. Whilst this work is carried out a Variation of the current Consent is sought to relax the limit for Suspended Solids on the treated sewage effluent discharge from 30 milligrammes per litre to 50 milligrammes per litre up to 31 March 2003. Any person who wishes to make representations or objections with respect to the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Phoenix House, Global Avenue, Leeds LS11 8PG, for the attention of Peter Baker, quoting Ref number R800207, not later than Friday 27 August 2002. A copy of the application may be inspected, free of charge, at the local Environment Agency office above, on weekdays between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm, up to Friday 27 August 2002.
