NOTICE OF DESIGNATION OF EXBURY, HATCHET GREEN AND WOODGREEN AS CONSERVATION AREAS
Notice is hereby given that, on 13th May 1998, in respect of areas at Exbury and Hatchet Green, and on 4th November 1998 in respect of an area at Woodgreen, the New Forest District Council acting as local planning authority, made determinations under the provisions of section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, in respect of land described generally in this notice, designating the areas as Conservation Areas as defined by the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990. The effects briefly of designation are as follows: the local planning authority comes under a duty to pay special attention to the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area; the demolition of buildings in the area (with certain exceptions) requires the consent of the local planning authority; trees in the area may not (with certain exceptions) be cut down, topped, lopped, uprooted, wilfully damaged or wilfully destroyed; permitted development rights under the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order are more restricted than in other areas; the right to display certain types of illuminated advertisement without express consent is excluded; specific statutory duties are imposed on telecommunications operators. Exbury: All the buildings on the north and south sides of the main village street and their grounds, the Rectory, the former school, St. Katherine’s Church, the elderly person’s bungalows, Marise Cottage, the Water Tower and Estate Offices and adjoining copses and the lodges to Exbury House. Hatchet Green: All the buildings and their grounds and all the fields bounding Hatchet Green, Hatchet Gate Farm, Hatchet End, October and Drove Cottages, and Hatchet Lodge and the surrounding woodland to the south. Woodgreen: All the buildings with associated land and paddocks in the village of Woodgreen with the following inclusions and exclusions: at the southern end, including the cemetery and surrounding trees, but excluding “Lane End”; excluding any part of Godshill Inclosure; at the eastern end the roadside properties up to and including Densome Farm and Godshill Wood Cottage; excluding any properties in or accessed from Lower Densome Wood; including the paddocks west of Hill Close down to Hale Road; and Hale Road only so far as to include on its west side Barns Farm. The boundaries of the Conservation Areas are more particularly shown on plans available for inspection at Planning Reception, New Forest District Council, Appletree Court, Lyndhurst, Hampshire between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.
