THE SUTTON (BUS STOPS) (BUS STOP CLEARWAY) (NO. 1) (AMENDMENT NO. 3) ORDER 1999 [REF. BS164]
RELATING TO ANGEL HILL, BISHOPSFORD ROAD, BRIGHTON ROAD, CROWN ROAD, HIGH STREET SUTTON, ROSE HILL AND ST. NICHOLAS WAY
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Sutton made the above-mentioned Order on 11th October 1999 under sections 6, 7(1) and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991. The principal objective of this Order is to introduce bus stop clearways in Angel Hill, Bishopsford Road, Brighton Road, Crown Road, High Street, Sutton, Rose Hill and St. Nicholas Way in order to ensure that buses are able to gain full access to the bus stop thereby providing safer boarding and alighting conditions for passengers. The general effect of this Order will be to introduce bus stop clearways “at any time” which will prohibit stopping of all vehicles except buses and taxis for the purposes of setting down and picking up passengers, or for operational reasons, at the bus stops in the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice, and to extend existing bus stop clearways “at any time” at the bus stops in the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice. A copy of the Order, which will come into effect on 18th October 1999, plans indicating the locations and effects of the bus stop clearways and the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order may be examined at: Civic Offices, St. Nicholas Way, Sutton, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday; and Environment and Leisure, 24 Denmark Road, Carshalton, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. If any person wishes to question the validity of this Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act of any Instrument made under that Act has not been compiled with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
