Notice of application to vary a licence to abstract water and to apply for a new licence

Take notice that R. Roobottom of Hurst Farm, Chilcote, Swadlincote, is applying to the Environment Agency for a new licence and to vary three existing licences serial number 3/28/23/67/S, which authorises abstraction from the River Mease between National Grid Reference SK 2838 1240 and SK 2937 1259, 3/28/23/68/S which authorises abstraction from an onstream pool on a tributary of the River Mease at National Grid Reference SK 2829 1155 and 3/28/23/69/S which authorises abstraction from Hooborough Brook between National Grid Reference SK 2948 1270 and SK 2985 1314.
  The new licence is to abstract water from a borehole at Hurst Farm, Chilcote at National Grid Reference SK 2829 5151. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 72 cubic metres per hour, 1,440 cubic metres per day, and 45,000 cubic metres per year between April to October each year. The water will be transferred to an onstream pool for subsequent re-abstraction for spray irrigation pursuant to licence serial number 3/28/23/68/S.
  The variations applied for are:

  1. to increase the quantities authorised by licence serial number 3/28/23/68 from 54 cubic metres per hour, 200 cubic metres per day and 5,000 cubic metres per year to 72 cubic metres per hour, 1,440 cubic metres per day and 50,000 cubic metres per year. The increase in quantities will be subject to an equivalent amount of water being transferred from the borehole specified above.
  2. To vary the aggregate quantity condition on each of the licence serial numbers 3/28/23/67, 3/28/23/68 and 3/28/23/69 from 54 cubic metres per hour and 1,080 cubic metres per day to 72 cubic metres per hour and 1,440 cubic metres per day. The increase is to permit the additional abstraction mentioned above. No actual increase in the quantities authorised by these sources is requested.
  3. Application is also made to vary the months in which abstraction is authorised specified on each of the licences from May to September inclusive to April to October inclusive.

  A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Hurst Farm, Chilcote, Swadlincote, Derbyshire, between 20th February 1998 and 20th March 1998.
  Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Sentinel House, Wellington Crescent, Fradley Park, Lichfield, Staffordshire WS13 6BR, before the end of the said period, quoting the name of the applicant.
