Notice of application for a licence to abstract water

Note . This is a re-advertisement in respect of a previous advertisement that was incorrect. Notice is hereby given that an application is being made to the Environment Agency (South West Region) by Thames Water Utilities Ltd. of Nugent House, Vastern Road, Reading, Berkshire RG1 8DB for a licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising Upper and Middle Chalk via existing boreholes at National Grid References SU 2361 4870, SU 2336 4874, SU 2340 4857 and SU 2215 4932 at Tidworth in the Parishes of North Tidworth and South Tedworth in the Counties of Wiltshire and Hampshire.   The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 12,000 cubic metres per day and 3,294,000 cubic metres per year (equivalent to an average of 9,000 cubic metres per day). The water will be used for private water supply or public water supply. This licence is required in order for Thames Water to provide water supplies at Tidworth, previously managed by the Crown under statutory exemption from the licensing requirements. There will be no increase in the amount of water that has been abstracted.   A copy of the application, and any map, plan or other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at North Tidworth Post Office, Tidworth, Wiltshire SP9 7LD at all reasonable hours during the period beginning on Thursday, 29th January and ending on Monday, 2nd March 1998.   Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Senior Licensing Officer, Environment Agency (South West Region), Manley House, Kestrel Way, Sowton, Exeter, Devon EX2 7LQ, quoting the name of the applicant before the end of the said period.
