The Department of Finance has made a Statutory Rule entitled “The Building (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2024” (SR 2024 No.191).

This Statutory Rule amends The Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 (as amended) to introduce two new regulations in Part E (Fire safety) of the Building Regulations. Supporting guidance to the new regulations is also given by amendments to these Regulations and supporting guidance come into operation on 6 May 2025 but do not apply in relation to work which has been completed or started before that date or for work subject to a building notice or full plans application submitted with a district council, before that date.
