RUSKIN PARK AREA – INTRODUCTION OF 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT AND 7.5 TONNES MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT ZONES AND ‘AT ANY TIME’ WAITING RESTRICTIONS

(NOTE: This notice is about the introduction of a new 20 mph speed limit zone and a ban on goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes maximum gross weight entering certain roads in the Ruskin Park area and the introduction of “at any time” waiting restrictions in certain lengths of roads.)

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lambeth Borough Council on 3rd April 2012 made the Lambeth (20 m.p.h. Speed Limit) (No. 1) Order 2012, the Lambeth (Prescribed Routes) (No. 2) Traffic Order 2012 and the Lambeth (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No. 208) Order 2012, under Legislation section: sections 6, Legislation section: 84(1) and Legislation section: 124 of and Legislation section: Part IV of Legislation section: Schedule 9 to the Legislation: Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 . The Orders will come into force on 9th April 2012 .
  • 2 The general effect of the Orders will be to—
    • a ban goods vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes maximum gross weight from entering or being in the streets specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice, except for access to premises or land adjacent to those streets;
    • b impose a 20 miles per hour speed limit on motor vehicles in Hardess Street, Herne Hill Road, Hinton Road (between Wigmore Road and a point 10 metres south-east of Coldharbour Lane), Milkwood Road (between Hinton Road and a point approximately 3 metres south-east of the common boundary of Nos. 369 and 371 Milkwood Road) and in the streets specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice;
    • c ban vehicles from waiting at any time in the lengths of streets specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice (this would be instead of any existing waiting restrictions that currently apply in these lengths of streets) and remove lengths of single yellow line waiting restrictions in Gubyon Avenue and Shardcroft Avenue.
  • 3 The Orders are intended to prevent goods vehicles from making unnecessary journeys through residential streets, to cut down on traffic speeds and so improve the safety and amenity of the area and to improve site lines at certain road junctions and in the vicinity of new road humps.

  • 5 Copies of the Orders and documents giving more detailed particulars of them (including a map) are available for inspection from 9.30 am until 4.30 pm on Mondays to Fridays inclusive (except Bank/Public Holidays) until the last day of a period of six weeks beginning with the date on which the Orders are made, at the offices of the Transportation Group, 2nd Floor, Blue Star House, 234-244 Stockwell Road, London, SW9 9SP . Please telephone 020 7926 9000 and select the Transport and Highways option, to arrange an inspection.
  • 6 If any person wishes to question the validity of the Orders or of any of their provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Legislation: Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Orders are made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.

  • b the west side, outside the rear of Nos. 19-22 Bessemer Park Industrial Estate, opposite the junction with Lowden Road.
