FLOOD PREVENTION (SCOTLAND) ACT 1961, AS AMENDED
WEST LOTHIAN COUNCIL - BROXBURN FLOOD PREVENTION SCHEME 2007
Notice is hereby given under paragraph 2 of the Second Schedule of the above Act that West Lothian Council has made and intends to apply to the Scottish Ministers for confirmation of the Broxburn Flood Prevention Scheme 2007 under Section 4 of the Flood Prevention (Scotland) Act 1961, as amended.
The general effect of the scheme is to reduce the risk of flooding from the Brox Burn and the Liggat Syke within three distinct areas of the town at Nicol Road and Pyothall Court, West Burnside and Station Road and Newhouses Road and Burnvale.
The range of flood defence measures includes the provision of upstream storage areas at Pyothall and Greendykes, and downstream, the construction of embankments and retaining walls, the raising of bridges and the provision of secondary drainage measures. Ancillary works include the diversion of underground services in the vicinity of the Station Road and Newhouses Road.
A copy of the Scheme and Plans may be inspected by any person, free of charge, at the following locations during normal opening hours for a period of three months from the first publication of this notice. 1) Strathbrock Partnership Centre, 189(a) West Main Street, Broxburn EH52 5LH, 2) Broxburn Public Library, West Main Street, Broxburn EH52 5RH and www.westlothian.gov.uk.
Within this period, any person may object to the confirmation of the scheme in writing to the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department, Flooding Erosion and Reservoirs Team, Mailpoint 3, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh EH6 6QQ.
