HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

THE SEFTON METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL (THORNTON TO SWITCH ISLAND LINK ROAD) A5758 BROOM’S CROSS ROAD (SIDE ROADS) ORDER 2012

THE SECRETARY OF STATE for Transport hereby gives notice that he has confirmed the above Order which was made by Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council under sections 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980 and which, as confirmed, authorises the Council to —

  • a improve highways;
  • b stop up highways;
  • c construct new highways;
  • d stop up private means of access to premises: and
  • e provide new means of access to premises,

all on or in the vicinity of the route of the classified road to be known as the Thornton to Switch Island Link Road A5758 Broom’s Cross Road which the Council will construct between the A565 Southport Road at Thornton and the Switch Island Junction of the M57, M58, A59 and A5036 at Netherton.

Copies of the above mentioned order and of the plans referred to therein may be inspected free of charge at all reasonable hours at the Main Reception, the offices of Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council, Magdalen House, Trinity Road, Bootle, Merseyside L20 3NJ and at the Main Reception, Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council, The Town Hall, Lord Street, Southport PR8 1DA and Crosby Library, Crosby Road North, Waterloo L22 0LQ and College Road Carnegie Library, College Road, Great Crosby L23 3DP.

ANY PERSON aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of the 15 May 2013, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein.
