PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990

DARKES LANE (WEST) POTTERS BAR CONSERVATION AREA (DESIGNATION)

Notice is hereby given that on 19th June 2012 Hertsmere Borough Council, in pursuance of its powers under Legislation section: section 69 of the Legislation: Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, as amended, has determined to designate the Conservation Area of Darkes Lane (West) Potters Bar as described in Schedule I of this notice.

A map of Darkes Lane (West) Conservation Area may be inspected, free of charge, during normal office hours of the Local Planning Authority at the Civic Offices, Elstree Way, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, WD6 1WA or via our website at www.hertsmere.gov.uk.

The principal effects of the area being designated within a Conservation Area are:

  • 1 The Council is under duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area.
  • 2 Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any building in the area.
  • 3 6 weeks’ notice must be given to the Council before works are carried out to any tree in the area.
  • 4 Special publicity must be given to planning applications or development in the area.
  • 5 In carrying out any functions under functions under the Planning Acts (and, in particular, in determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent), the Council are required to take into account the desirability of preserving and enhancing the character or appearance of the area.

The properties affected by the designation to the conservation area boundary are shown on the associated map and include: all properties in The Avenue, Manor Way, Heath Drive, Mountway, 2 Church Road, and 244, 246, 248, Newlands, Tiverton, Trencrom, Clavering, Tudor Rose, Chestnut Tree House, Baytrees and Cedarwood Darkes Lane.
