DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER AT KING’S LYNN B POWER STATION CONNECTION, NEAR KING’S LYNN, NORFOLK

NOTICE PUBLICISING A PROPOSED APPLICATION FOR A DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER (“DCO”)

Notice is hereby given that National Grid Electricity Transmission plc (the ‘Applicant’) of Warwick Technology Park, Gallows Hill, Warwick CV34 6DA intendsto apply to the Infrastructure Planning Commission under Legislation section: section 37 of the Legislation: Planning Act 2008 for the above-mentioned development consent order (the ‘Application’).

The Application relates to the construction and operation of a 2.8km (1.75 miles) 400,000 volt (400kV) overhead electricity transmission line between the proposed King’s Lynn B Power Station at Willows Business Park, Saddlebow, near King’s Lynn, and the existing 400kV overhead electricity transmission line between Norwich main substation and Walpole substation (the ‘Project’) in the County of Norfolk and the Borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.

The Project will run south-easterly from the proposed King’s Lynn B Power Station crossing High Road, Low Road, and the River Nar, then head southwards between the River Nar and the King’s Lynn to Ely railway line, then head south-westwards re-crossing the River Nar to intersect with the existing 400kV Norwich to Walpole overhead line to the east of Thiefgate Lane.

The proposed DCO will, amongst other things, authorise:

  • 1 Construction, operation and maintenance of a 400kV overhead electricity transmission line;
  • 2 The permanent and/or temporary compulsory acquisition of rightsover land and rights to use land for the Project;
  • 3 Access routes and culverting;
  • 4 Any necessary temporary interference with the highway and public rights of way networksin the vicinity of the Project;
  • 5 Overriding of easements and other rights over or affecting land for the Project;
  • 6 Such ancillary, incidental and consequential works and provisions as are necessary for the Project.

The Project is an environmental impact assessment development. Therefore, the Applicant will be making preliminary environmental information available. A copy of the details of the proposals, preliminary environmental information, plans, maps and other documents, may be inspected free of charge at the following locations and during the hours set out below:

• National Grid, Company Secretariat Office, 1 – 3 Strand, London, WC2N 5EH (Opening Hours: 8am to 6pm Monday – Friday)

• Norfolk County Council, c/o Stephen Faulkner, Principal Planner, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, Norfolk NR1 2DH (Opening Hours: 8.45am to 5.30pm Monday - Thursday and 8.45am to 5pm Fridays)

• King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council, King’s Court, Chapel Street, King's Lynn, Norfolk, PE30 1EX (Opening Hours: 8.45am to 5.15pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9.30am to 5.15pm on Wednesday and 8.45am to 4.45pm Fridays)

The documents relating to the proposed DCO for the Project will be on display at the above locations from 28 March 2012 until at least 11 May 2012 . A reasonable copying charge may be made for the reproduction of any of the plans, maps and documents.
