THE NEWHAM (DISABLED PERSONS) (COMMUNITY PARKING) (SPECIAL PARKING AREA) (NO. 1, 2007) (AMENDMENT NO. ) ORDER 20**

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Newham proposes to make the above mentioned Orders under Sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
  • 2 The general effect of the Orders would be to amend the Newham (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (No. 1) Order 2011 and to further amend the Newham (Disabled Persons) (Community Parking) (Special Parking Area) (No. 1) Order 2007 so as to:
    • a designate a parking place outside each of the following locations:

in which only vehicles authorised by the Order may be left without charge;

  • b specify, in respect of the parking places, that disabled persons’ vehicles displaying in the relevant position a disabled person’s badge (commonly referred to as the “Blue Badge”) issued by any local authority under the provisions of the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Regulations 1975, 1982 or 2000 may be left therein;
  • c provide that certain other vehicles may wait in the parking places in certain circumstances, e.g. to load or unload;
  • d lengthen the parking places at the following locations: (i) No. 129 Sheringham Avenue E12 (lengthen by 1 metre in a southerly direction); (ii) No. 33 St. Bernard’s Road E6 (lengthen by 0.5 metre in a northerly direction);
  • e revoke redundant disabled persons’ parking places in various roads;
  • f transfer community disabled person’s parking places from the Free Parking Places order to the community parking order. There would be no change to current controls.
  • 3 Copies of the proposed Orders, together with documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at Newham Dockside, 1000 Dockside Road, London, E16 2QU. The offices will be closed from 24 December 2011 to 2 January 2012 inclusive.

  • 5 Any objections relating to either of the proposed Orders must be made in writing to the Head of Traffic and Transportation, London Borough of Newham, 3rd Floor West, Newham Dockside, 1000 Dockside Road, London E16 2QU. Objections must be made by 13 January 2012 and must state the grounds of the objection. Objections can also be sent by email, quoting the Order title, to: traffic.orders@newham.gov.uk
  • 6 Anyone objecting to the proposed Orders should be aware that in view of the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, this council may be legally obliged to make any comments in response to this notice open to public inspection.
