PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE CLOSURE OF BELINDA ROAD

[Note: At present, vehicles are not allowed to enter part of Belinda Road between 6 pm and 6 am on Mondays to Saturdays and also on Saturday afternoons and all day on Sundays, except for vehicles belonging to businesses and residents in Belinda Road. This notice is about a proposal to change this situation so that part of Belinda Road would be closed to motor vehicles at all times, except for those requiring access to land or premises in Belinda Road. Objections may be made to these proposals - see paragraph 6.)

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Lambeth proposes to make the Lambeth (Prescribed Routes) (No. -) Traffic Order 201-, under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
  • 2 The general effect of the Order would be to ban motor vehicles from entering the part of Belinda Road that lies south-west of the gate situated approximately 17 metres west of Coldharbour Lane, at all times on every day of the week, except for vehicles gaining access to land or premises in that part of Belinda Road, via that gate. This would be instead of the existing arrangements where vehicles are banned from entering that part of Belinda Road, between 6 pm and 6 am (the following day) on Mondays to Saturdays and also on Saturday afternoons and all day on Sundays, except for vehicles belonging to businesses and residents and certain other excepted vehicles. Belinda Road would remain closed to all vehicles between Ridgway Road and the south-east side of the railway bridge over Belinda Road, as it is at present.
  • 3 The proposed Order is necessary to reduce anti-social behaviour and fly tipping in the road and so improve safety and the immediate environment.
  • 4 If you have any enquiries about this matter, please telephone Lambeth Council's Transportation Group on 0207 926 0324.
  • 5 A copy of the proposed Order and documents giving more detailed particulars of it (including a map) are available for inspection between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm on Mondays to Fridays inclusive (except Bank/Public Holidays), until the last day of a period of six weeks beginning with the date on which the Order is made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Order, at: the offices of Lambeth Council’s Transportation Group, 2nd Floor, Blue Star House, 234-244 Stockwell Road, London SW9 9SP. To arrange a viewing please contact 020 7926 9000 and select the Transport and Highways option.
  • 6 All objections and other representations relating to the proposed Order must be made in writing and all objections must specify the grounds on which they are made and should be sent to Barbara Poulter, Transportation Group, London Borough of Lambeth, 2nd Floor, Blue Star House, 234-244 Stockwell Road, London SW9 9SP, by 28th October 2011.
