THE SECRETARY OF STATE hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under Legislation section: Section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping up of Highways (North East) (No.06) Order 2011” authorising the stopping up of an irregular shaped western part width of Pier Parade which lies adjacent to the boundary of the former Majestic buildings and an irregular shaped southern part width of Sea Road comprising highway verge which lies adjacent to North Marine Park at South Shields, in the Borough of South Tyneside to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted to LA Architects Ltd by South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council on 3 August 2010 under reference ST/0767/10/LAA.

COPIES OF THE ORDER MAY BE OBTAINED, free of charge, on application to the Secretary of State, addressed to the National Transport Casework Team, Government Office for the North East, Citygate, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4WH (quoting reference NATTRAN/NE/S247/111) and may be inspected at all reasonable hours c/o Pauline Bell, South Tyneside Council, Legal Services, Town Hall &Civic Offices, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 .

ANY PERSON AGGRIEVED BY THE ORDER and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of the 18 March 2011 apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein.

Planning permission is granted for demolition of existing amusements building and two blocks of public toilets and removal of existing bowling green and erection of new leisure building with swimming pools, associated landscaping, new service access, reconfiguration of existing car park, stopping up of highway and creation of coach drop off at Majestic Buildings, Pier Parade, South Shields, NE33 2JS .
