EXPERIMENTAL USE OF BUS LANES BY SOLO MOTORCYCLES
THE EALING (BUS PRIORITY) TRAFFIC ORDERS EXPERIMENTAL VARIATION TRAFFIC ORDER 2010
- 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Ealing, on the 5th August 2010 made the above mentioned Order under section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
- 2 The general effect of the Order will be to permit solo motorcycles to use certain with-flow bus lanes in Horn Lane, The Broadway Southall, Victoria Road, Uxbridge Road W7 (north side), Pett’s Hill and Yeading Lane. These bus lanes were unchanged in the revision of bus lane times of operation exercise.
- 3 The Order, which will come into force on the 7th August 2010, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays inclusive at Mouchel Limited, 6th Floor, 58 Uxbridge Road, Ealing, London W5 2ST, until such time as the Order ceases to have effect.

- 5 The Order provides that, subject to the provisions of section 10 of the Road Traffic
Regulation Act 1984, the Council’s Director of the Built Environment for the time
being, or some person authorised in that behalf by him, may, if it appears to him
or that person essential:-
- a in the interest of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic;
- b in the interest of providing suitable and adequate parking facilities on the highway; or
- c for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Order runs,
modify or suspend the Order or provisions contained therein.
- 6 Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any relevant requirements thereof or any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may make application for the purpose to the High Court by the 16th September 2010.
- 7 If the provisions of the Order continue in force for a period of not less than 6 months, the Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be reproduced and continued in force indefinitely by means of Orders made under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Anyone who wishes to object to the making of Orders under the said section of the said Act of 1984 for the purpose of such reproduction and continuation in force may, between 6th August 2010 and 5th February 2011, send a statement in writing of their objection and grounds thereof to the Council’s Agents Mouchel Limited, 6th Floor, 58 Uxbridge Road, Ealing, London W5 2ST.
