THE HAMMERSMITH AND FULHAM (PRESCRIBED ROUTE) (NO. 1) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 2010

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, with the agreement of Transport for London, on 5 th February 2010 made the above-named Order under sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
  • 2 The general effect of the Order will be to ban the U-turn by vehicles in those lengths of Edith Road and Gliddon Road that lie between the common boundary of Nos. 21 and 23 Edith Road and the northern kerb-line of Talgarth Road. This will be an experiment, in the first instance.
  • 3 If it appears necessary for certain purposes, the Head of Highways and Engineering, or any person authorised by him/her, may modify or suspend the Order.
  • 4 A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on 22 nd February 2010, and of documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order can be inspected during normal office hours until the order ceases to have effect, at the offices of: Transportation Policy Team, Highways and Engineering, Environment Department, Town Hall Extension, King Street, London, W6 9JU.
  • 5 The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of a permanent Order made under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Order within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the experimental Order comes into force or, if the experimental Order is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force. Any such objection must be in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent to Transportation Policy Team, Highways and Engineering, Environment Department, Town Hall Extension, King Street, London, W6 9JU.
  • 6 Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
