LONDON CYCLE HIRE SCHEME – PROVISION OF CYCLE PARKING PLACES AND CHANGES TO EXISTING PARKING PLACES AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS
THE ISLINGTON (PARKING PLACES) (LONDON CYCLE HIRE SCHEME) (PARKING PLACES) ORDER 200*, THE ISLINGTON (PARKING PLACES) (ZONE A) (NO. *) (AMENDMENT NO. *) ORDER 200*, THE ISLINGTON (PARKING PLACES) (ZONE B) (NO. *) (AMENDMENT NO. *) ORDER 200*, THE ISLINGTON (PARKING PLACES) (ZONE C) (NO. *) (AMENDMENT NO. *) ORDER 200*, THE ISLINGTON (PARKING PLACES) (CAR CLUBS) (AMENDMENT NO *) 200*, THE ISLINGTON (WAITING AND LOADING) (AMENDMENT NO*) ORDER 200*
- 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Islington proposes to make the above mentioned Orders under Sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Local Government Act 1985, in connection with the provision of cycle parking places in various locations throughout Islington.
- 2 The general effect of these Orders would be to:
- a convert pay and display parking bays to cycle parking places (for the use of London
Cycle Hire bicycles only) in the following locations:
- i Calshot Street, the west side, opposite Nos. 184 to 186 Pentonville Road;
- ii Farringdon Lane, the south-west side, opposite No. 60 Farringdon Road;
- iii Goswell Road, the south-west side, outside Nos. 73 to 75 Goswell Road;
- b convert a car club parking space to a cycle parking place (for the use of London Cycle Hire bicycles only) in River Street, the north-east side, outside No. 44 Amwell Street;
- c convert residents’ parking bays to cycle parking places (for the use of London Cycle
Hire bicycles only) in the following locations:
- i Bunhill Row, the south-east side, adjacent to Nos. 21 to 24 Chiswell Street;
- ii River Street, the north-east side, outside No. 24 River Street;
- iii Rodney Street, the south-west side, opposite Nos. 2 to 8 Rodney Street;
- d convert shared-use parking bays to cycle parking places (for the use of London Cycle
Hire bicycles only) in the following locations:
- i Great Percy Street, the south-east side, outside No. 4 Great Percy Street;
- ii Macclesfield Road, the north-east side, outside Unit 13 City Forum, No. 50 City Road;
- iii Risinghill Street, the north-west side, outside St Silas with All Saints and St. James Church;
- e provide off-street cycle parking places (for the use of London Cycle Hire bicycles
only) on the footway in the following locations:
- i Central Street, the north-east side, the outside the Finsbury Leisure Centre, Central Street;
- ii Clerkenwell Green, the north-west side, outside Nos. 45 to 47 Clerkenwell Green;
- iii Goswell Road, the south-west side, opposite Nos. 250 to 258 Goswell Road;
- iv Roseberry Avenue, north-west side, opposite Nos. 70 to 82 Roseberry Avenue; and
- v St John Street, south-west side, opposite College Building City University, No. 280 St John Street and its junction with Wyclif Street.
- a convert pay and display parking bays to cycle parking places (for the use of London
Cycle Hire bicycles only) in the following locations:
- 3 The general effect of the Waiting and Loading Order would be to make various amendments to the waiting and loading restrictions in the above-mentioned streets so as to facilitate the safe introduction of the cycle parking places (in most cases these measures would prohibit waiting, including waiting for the purposes of loading or unloading goods from a vehicle, adjacent to the cycle parking place).
- 4 The general effect of the Parking Places Orders and the Car Clubs Parking Places Order would be make various amendments to parking places in the vicinity of the cycle parking places so as to maintain a suitable level of residents parking spaces, shared use parking space, pay and display parking space and car club parking space. Please see the below-mentioned plans (available for inspection) for further details.
- 5 A copy of the proposed Orders, plans and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection during normal office hours until the end of six weeks from the date on which the Orders are made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Orders at the following location:
Public Realm, 222 Upper Street, London N1 1YA

- 6 Any person who wishes to object or to make other representations about any of the proposed Orders should send a statement in writing, specifying the grounds on which they are made to Project Centre, Saffron Court, 14b St. Cross Street, Farringdon, London EC1N 8XA (quoting reference TMO/AC/London Cycle Hire 2009), within the period of twenty one days from the date on which this Notice is published.
