Southampton City Council under the above section gives the following details:

• 1 Three months advance notice is hereby given that Southampton City Council intends to carry out substantial road works.
• 2 The streets/roads in which these works will take place are High Street, Briton Street and Town Quay.
• 3 Work is expected to affect the carriageway and footways of: High Street (carriageways and footways) - from its junction with Briton Street to its junction with Town Quay; Briton Street (carriageway only) – from its junction with High Street to its junction with Orchard Place; and Town Quay (northern footway) – from its junction with High Street to its junction with French Street.
• 4 Work is expected to commence on 19th May 2009 (or should commence within one month of this date).
• 5 The works notified consist of highway improvements, footway re-paving and carriageway re-surfacing.
• 6 Subject to the exemptions in the Act and Regulations under it, no street works may be executed for a period of 5 years from completion of the works described in paragraph 5, without the consent of the said Highway Authority, which shall not be unreasonably withheld.
