ROSENDALE ROAD – NEW ROAD SAFETY SCHEME. PROPOSED 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT, ROAD HUMPS AND WAITING AND LOADING RESTRICTIONS

(This notice is about the Council’s proposal to introduce a 20mph speed limit, “speed cushions”, ”speed tables” and at any time waiting restrictions in Rosendale Road. Objections may be made – see paragraph 9)

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lambeth Borough Council, propose to make the Lambeth (20 m.p.h. Speed Limit) (No. *) Order 200- and the Lambeth (Waiting and Loading Restrictions) (Amendment No. *) Order 200 under sections 6, 84(1) and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
  • 2 The general effect of the Orders would be to ban:-
    • a any person from driving any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour in that length of Rosendale Road which lies between a point 3 north of the common boundary of Nos. 7 and 8 Sydcote, Rosendale Road and the common boundary of Nos. 281 and 283 Rosendale Road; and
    • b waiting by vehicles at any time in that length of Rosendale Road that lies on the north-east side, between a point 10 metres north-west of the north-western kerb-line of Walkerscroft Mead and a point 10 metres south-east of the south-eastern kerb-line of Walkerscroft Mead.
  • 3 FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lambeth Borough Council propose to construct the type of road humps known as “speed cushions” and “speed tables” in Rosendale Road.
  • 4 “Speed cushions” would be constructed in Rosendale Road (i) outside Nos. 163 and 165 Rosendale Road; (ii) outside Nos. 185 and 187 Rosendale Road; and (iii) outside No. 205 Rosendale Road. Each “speed cushion” would be an elevated section of carriageway with a flat top, 75 millimetres higher at its highest point than the surrounding carriageway, 2.8 metres in length and 1.6 metres in width. They would be constructed in a line of four “speed cushions”, extending across the width of the carriageway between the two kerbs.
  • 5 Single “speed cushions” would be constructed (a) in the south-eastbound carriageway of Rosendale Road, (i) outside No. 272 Rosendale Road; (ii) outside No. 256 Rosendale Road; and (iii) approximately 27 metres north-west of the north-western wall of No. 165f Rosendale Road; (b) in the north-westbound carriageway of Rosendale Road, (i) opposite No. 272 Rosendale Road; (ii) opposite No. 256 Rosendale Road; and (iii) approximately 17 metres north-west of the north-western wall of No. 165f Rosendale Road. Each “speed cushion” would be an elevated section of carriageway with a flat top, 75 millimetres higher at its highest point than the surrounding carriageway, 2.8 metres in length and 1.6 metres in width.
  • 6 “Speed tables” would be constructed in Rosendale Road (i) approximately 8.5 metres south-east of No. 250a Rosendale Road and No. 1 Peabody Cottages, Rosendale Road; (ii) outside Nos. 265 and 267 Rosendale Road; (iii) outside Nos. 253 and 257 Rosendale Road; and (iv) outside No. 165a Rosendale Road. Each “speed table” would be an elevated section of carriageway with a flat top, 75 millimetres higher than the surrounding carriageway, approximately 9 metres in length extending across the carriageway continuously from kerb to kerb.

  • 8 Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposed Orders are available for inspection between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm Mondays to Fridays (except bank holidays) until the last day of a period of six weeks beginning with the date on which the Orders are made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Orders, at: the offices of Lambeth Borough Council’s Transport and Highways Group, 3rd Floor, Blue Star House, 234-244 Stockwell Road, London SW9 9SP. A map showing the location of the “speed cushions” and “speed tables” can be inspected during the same times until 6th January 2009 at that same address.
  • 9 All objections and other representations relating to the proposed Orders or to the “speed cushions” and “speed tables” must be made in writing and all objections must specify the grounds on which they are made and should be sent to Barbara Poulter, Transport and Highways Group, London Borough of Lambeth, 3rd Floor, Blue Star House, 234-244 Stockwell Road, London SW9 9SP, by 6th January 2009.
