PROPOSED INTRODUCTION OF 1 HOUR MAXIMUM STAY ’PAY AND DISPLAY’ PARKING BAYS AND REVOCATION OF A LENGTH OF WAITING RESTRICTION IN MANSFIELD ROAD, SOUTH CROYDON
- 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Croydon Council, proposes to make Traffic Orders under Section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and all other enabling powers.
- 2 The general effect of the Orders would be:
- a to introduce ‘pay and display’ only parking bays that would operate between the hours of 9am and 5pm on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive in Mansfield Road, (2 bays adjacent to Nos. 199 and 201 Brighton Road and 4 bays adjacent to No. 203 Brighton Road). To limit the maximum period for waiting in a parking place to 1 hour and to provide that the charge for leaving a vehicle vary from 20p for fifteen minutes up to 80p (maximum) for 1 hour (maximum) with no return within two hours;
- b to reduce a length of single yellow line outside No. 1 Mansfield Road, which applies between 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday inclusive.
- 3 The restrictions on the use of the parking places will not apply to certain vehicles viz., to police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles, to broken down vehicles and those being used in connection with building and street works or for the collection or delivery of postal packets etc.
- 4 A copy of the proposed Orders, of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Orders, and of a map which indicates the length of road to which the proposed Orders relate can be inspected until the last day of a period of six weeks beginning with the date on which the Orders were made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Orders, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the Enquiry Counter, “One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey.

- 6 Persons desiring to object to the proposed Orders should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Order Making Section, Parking Services, Community Services Department, 9th Floor, South West Side, Taberner House, and Park Lane, Croydon, CR9 1EN quoting the reference CS/PS/JH/7/Z43/Z44 by 17 December 2008.
- 7 The Councillors for this Ward are Maria Gatland, Michael Neal and Jason Perry.
- 8 The proposed Orders are intended to introduce 1 hour maximum stay ‘pay and display’ only parking bays in Mansfield Road. The bays will be effective at providing a high turnover of short term parking to boost the local economy. The reduction of a length of single yellow line, which applies between 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday in Mansfield Road will provide an additional parking space for residents and visitors in an area where parking is at a premium.
