THE CITY OF WESTMINSTER (WAITING AND LOADING RESTRICTION) (AMENDMENT NO. *) ORDER 200*

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council proposes to make the above Orders under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.
  • 2 The general effect of the Orders would be, in Air Street (between Regent Street and Piccadilly), to:
    • a reverse the direction of the one-way working for vehicles (from southbound to northbound);
    • b compel all vehicles to turn left into the westbound carriageway of Regent Street;
    • c prohibit goods vehicles (the maximum weight of which exceeds 7.5 tonnes);
    • d introduce a loading bay which would operate between midnight and 10.30 a.m. on the south-west side (opposite Nos. 16/18 Piccadilly) at which continuous loading may take place for a maximum period of 20 minutes; no waiting or loading may take place in this bay outside of these hours;
    • e prohibit vehicles proceeding westbound in Regent Street from turning right into Air Street, except for taxis;
    • f introduce “at any time” waiting and loading restrictions along the whole length, except in the loading bay referred to in paragraph (c) above.
  • 3 The proposed Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at West One, 59 Buckingham Gate, London, SW1E 6AJ, until 6 weeks have elapsed from the date on which either the Orders are made or the Council decides not to make the Orders.   • 5 Any objections or other representations about the proposed Orders should be sent in writing to the Council’s agents, West One, 59 Buckingham Gate, London, SW1E 6AJ, quoting reference 5510/IS, by 5th December 2008. All objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
