NOTICE OF VARIATION OF A CONSERVATION AREA
CUCKFIELD CONSERVATION AREA

Notice is hereby given that at a meeting of its Cabinet held on 13th May 2008 Mid Sussex District Council designated certain land in Cuckfield in the County of West Sussex described below and shown in detail on drawing number C/CA/1 as an extension to the Cuckfield Conservation Area and excluded certain land in Cuckfield as described below and shown in detail on drawing number C/CA/1 from the Cuckfield Conservation Area.

The extension includes Worsley Memorial Park; Tentercroft in Broad Street; Vine Cottage and Vine Cottage North in the High Street; the pavement on the north side of Broad Street from Farthings to the junction of Broad Street and the B2184 together with four houses in this area (Roseland Cottage, Broad Street House, Greenwoods and Morecroft) and the rear gardens of the properties on the south side of Courtmead Road. Leyton Lea housing development and 22 and 24 Mytten Close are excluded from the Conservation Area.

A Conservation Area is an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance.

In a Conservation Area it is an offence to:-

1. demolish certain buildings except with the consent of the Local Planning Authority;

2. cut down, top, lop uproot or wilfully damage or destroy a tree without due notice being given to the Local Planning Authority.

Copies of the drawing showing the changes to the boundary of the Cuckfield Conservation Area have been deposited at the offices of Mid Sussex District Council, Oaklands, Oaklands Road, Haywards Heath and may be inspected free of charge by all interested persons from Monday to Thursday between the hours of 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and on Friday between the hours of 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
