PROPOSED STOPPING UP OF HIGHWAY (FOOTWAY AND ALL PURPOSE HIGHWAY) AT THE JUNCTION OF COLDHARBOUR (A30) AND FAIRFIELD HEIGHTS, SHERBORNE, DORSET

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TRANSPORT hereby gives notice that she proposes to make an Order under Section 247 of the above Act, which will authorise the stopping up of highway (footway and all purpose highway) at the junction of Coldharbour (A30) and Fairfield Heights, Sherborne, Dorset.

IF THE ORDER IS MADE, the stopping up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission referred to in that Schedule. The proposed Order will require the provision of improved highway (current layby to become footway), over the area shown by cross hatching, maintainable at the public expense for which the Dorset County Council will be the local highway authority. The proposed Order will provide that no part of the said highway shall be stopped up until the work specified in the Order has been carried out.

COPIES OF THE DRAFT ORDER AND RELEVANT PLAN MAY BE INSPECTED at all reasonable hours during the 28 days commencing on 28 March 2008 at Sherborne Library, Digby Hall, Hound Street, Sherborne DT9 3AA and may be obtained free of charge from the Government Office for the South West (quoting reference SW/THM/8247/350) at the address stated below or by telephoning 0117 900 1896.

ANY PERSON MAY OBJECT to the making of the proposed Order within the period of 28 days commencing on 28 March 2008 by notice to the Secretary of State for Transport, quoting the above reference, at the Government Office for the South West, The Planning Team, 1st Floor, 2 Rivergate, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6EH.

In preparing an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of it may be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and that those persons may wish to communicate with the objector about it.
