THE LEWISHAM (LOCAL ROAD) (BUS PRIORITY) TRAFFIC ORDER 2007

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lewisham Council propose to make this order under the provisions of section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The general nature and effect of the order will be to revoke and reintroduce the provisions of the Lewisham (Local Road) (Bus Priority) Traffic Order 2003 (as amended), incorporating the following changes:–

(a) Adelaide Avenue, northeast side, southeastbound bus lane between Hilly Fields and approach to junction Ladywell Road, overall reduction in length of approx. 14.5 metres, operating hours extended to Mondays - Fridays 3pm. - 7pm.;

(b) Adelaide Avenue, south side, westbound bus lane on approach to Brockley Road, overall increase in length of approx. 9 metres, operating hours unchanged Mondays - Fridays 7 -10am. & 4 - 7pm.;

(c) Evelyn Street, northeast side, southeastbound bus lane between Sayes Court Street and New King Street junctions, overall increase in length of approx. 55 metres, operating hours extended to 7am. - 7pm. every day;

(d) Kirkdale, northeast side, installation of new southeastbound bus lane between Peak Hill and Spring Hill/Westwood Hill junctions, operating 7am. - 7pm. every day, for buses, dial-a-ride, pedal cycles and taxis; and

(e) Manor Park, installation of new two-way bus lane between Kellerton Road and Staplehurst Road junctions, 14 metre length in middle of road traffic lane through width restriction, operating at all times, for buses and dial-a-ride only.

3. Exemptions from bus lane controls include Council and statutory undertakers’ vehicles engaged on certain statutory duties, vehicles crossing a bus lane for access to side roads or access ways, any vehicle avoiding or in consequence of an accident and emergency service vehicles.

4. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the order and measures can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays at the offices of Lewisham Highways Development, Wearside Service Centre, Wearside Road, Ladywell, London, SE13 (telephone 020-8314 2265).

5. Any objection or other representation relating to the order must be made in writing and any objection must specify the grounds on which it is made. Any such objection or representation must be sent, quoting reference ‘Bus.07’, to Lewisham Highways Development, Wearside Service Centre, Wearside Road, London, SE13 7EZ, to arrive not later than 21 days from the date of publication of this notice. Any objection may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
