ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A406 GLA ROAD (GUNNERSBURY AVENUE, HOUNSLOW) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) TRAFFIC ORDER 2007
1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that on 6 August 2007 it made the above-named Order under section 6 and section 83 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The A406 GLA Road (Gunnersbury Avenue, Hounslow) (20 mph Speed Limit) Experimental Traffic Order 2006 (“the experimental Order”) was made under section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and came into force on 18 December 2006.
3. The general nature and effect of the experimental Order was to impose 20 mph speed limits on the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue in the London Borough of Hounslow.
4. Transport for London has carefully considered whether or not the provisions of the experimental Order should be continued indefinitely and has decided that they should be so continued.
5. Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on Local Authorities’ by section 6 and section 83 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and in accordance with regulation 23 of the Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996, Transport for London has made the A406 GLA Road (Gunnersbury Avenue, Hounslow) (20 mph Speed Limit) Traffic Order 2007 (“the permanent Order”). That Order will come into force on 13 August 2007, and the effect of that Order will be to continue in force indefinitely the provisions of the experimental Order.
6. The road affected by the permanent Order is the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue slip road on the western side between No 127 and No 139.
7. A copy of the permanent Order, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and a copy of the experimental Order can be inspected, during normal office hours, at the offices of:
Transport for London, Streets TRO Team (SPST/RND) 84 Eccleston Square, London SW1V 1PX; and Traffic Engineer, Head of Street Management & Public Protection, London Borough of Hounslow, Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow TW3 4DN.
8. Any person wishing to question the validity of the permanent Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirement of the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which that Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
