THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF SANDWELL (OWEN STREET RELIEF ROAD) (B4517 CLASSIFIED ROAD) (SIDE ROADS) ORDER 2003

THE SECRETARY OF STATE for Transport hereby gives notice that he has confirmed with modifications the above Order which was made by the Borough Council of Sandwell under sections 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980 and which, as confirmed, authorises the Council to— (a) improve lengths of highways; (b) stop up highways; (c) stop up private means of access to premises; and (d) provide new means of access to premises; all on or in the vicinity of the route of the classified road known as a section of the B4517 Owen Street to be improved from the Birmingham Canal Bridge for a distance of approximately 42 metres in a north-easterly direction to the railway level crossing, including an area between Owen Street and Owen Street Railway Station for the construction of a footway and subway ramp; from the latter point above, the B4517 Owen Street Relief Road which the Council propose to construct for a distance of approximately 265 metres to Alexandra Road, 70 metres west of its junction with Watery Lane; and from the latter point above, a section of the B4517 Alexandra Road to be improved for a distance of approximately 95 metres to a point 20 metres east of its junction with Watery Lane. Copies of the above mentioned Order and of the plans referred to therein have been deposited and may be seen at all reasonable hours free of charge at the offices of the Head of Legal Services, Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, West Midlands B69 3DE during normal working hours. ANY PERSON aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or of any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of the 18 January 2007, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein.
