NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT TO DISCHARGE

Notice is given, as required by Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991, that the following application has been made to the Environment Agency, South West Region. South West Water have applied for consent to discharge from a proposed new sewage treatment works and pumping station that will serve the new East Devon town development close to Broadclyst and Clyst Honiton. The proposed scheme will provide full treatment through a membrane bioreactor plant that is capable of consistently achieving a very high standard of effluent, including significant reduction of bacteria and pathogens. It is proposed to discharge the treated sewage to the River Clyst at National Grid Ref SX 9866 9405. The proposed sewage pumping station will pump sewage from the main sewer to the new sewage treatment works. Discharge from the pumping station will only occur in an emergency as a result of mechanical or electrical failure. Telemetry will be provided to notify of pumping station failure or breakdown. Back up facilities will consist of standby generators and pumps and emergency storage will be provided within the sewerage system.
