PROPOSED TRANSFER OF THE BALANCE OF BANK MELLI IRAN’S BANKING BUSINESS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM TO MELLI BANK PLC

Take notice that on 13 October 2006, an application by way of claim form (“the Application”) was made to the High Court by Melli Bank plc (a Company incorporated under the Companies Acts with its registered office at One London Wall, London EC2Y 5EA), under section 107 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 for (inter alia) an Order under section 111(1) sanctioning a scheme (“the Scheme”) under which certain deposits and accounts maintained by Bank Melli Iran in the United Kingdom are to be transferred to Melli Bank plc. Copies of a statement setting out the terms of the Scheme may be obtained, free of charge, by writing to Stephenson Harwood, at One St Paul’s Churchyard, London EC4M 8SH (Ref 753). Any person (including any employee of Bank Melli Iran or Melli Bank plc) who alleges that she or he would be adversely affected by the carrying out of the Scheme is entitled to be heard at the hearing of the Application on 8 December 2006, at the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London WC2A 2LL. Any person wishing to be heard should seek independent legal advice. This notice is given, pursuant to Regulation 5(2)(b) of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Control of Business Transfers) (Requirements on Applicants) Regulations 2001, and has been approved by the Financial Services Authority.
