The A249 Iwade Bypass to Queenborough Improvement Scheme officially opened on 3 July 2006. Offers have been made in respect of 10 properties believed to qualify under the provisions of the Noise Insulation Regulations 1975, for an offer of insulation (any or all of double windows, doors, special ventilation and Venetian blinds) or a grant. A list of properties affected may be inspected by arrangement at the following address: A249 DBFO Site Office, Bramblefield Lane, off Sheppey Way, Bobbing, near Sittingbourne, Kent ME9 8QX (telephone 01795 478231), or by contacting The General Manager, Sheppey Route Ltd, A249 DBFO Project, c/o Carillion Roads, Construction House, Birch Street, Wolverhampton WV1 4HY (telephone 01902 422431). The regulations give right of appeal to the occupier of any dwelling or other residential property (such as an old peoples’ home or hostel for long-stay residents), and to his/her immediate landlord or licensor (if any), where the dwelling or property is within 300 metres of the Scheme and no offer of insulation or grant has been made in respect of it. Any such person who claims that use of the new length of road causes, or is expected to cause at the property in question, noise of not less than the level specified in the Regulations, may apply in writing to The General Manager, Sheppey Route Ltd, A249 DBFO Project, c/o Carillion Roads, Construction House, Birch Street, Wolverhampton WV1 4HY; setting out the facts on which he/she relies and requesting that an offer of insulation or grant be made in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations. This right of appeal must be exercised no later than 23 February 2007. An information booklet “Compulsory Purchase and Compensation—Reducing the Adverse Effects of Public Development” is available, free of charge, from the A249 DBFO Site Office address. Please telephone 01795 478231 and ask for Kelly Regan. G Friel, Sheppey Route Limited 23 August 2006.
