Land at RAF Church Fenton, North Yorkshire, has been declared surplus to requirements and is being put forward for disposal. The Crichel Down Rules require Government Departments under certain circumstances to offer back surplus land to the former owner or successor in title at market value and/or inform former owners or successors in title that an exception under the Crichel Down Rules applies such that the surplus land will not be offered back to the former owner or successor. The surplus land forms part of land which was acquired under the following Conveyances: A Conveyance dated 14 June 1940 between The County Council of West Riding (1) and the Secretary of State for Air (2). A Conveyance dated 4 February 1936 between The County Council of West Riding (1) and the President of the Air Council (2). A Conveyance dated 9 March 1936 between John Robinson Bean and William Robinson Bean (1) and the President of the Air Council (2). A Conveyance dated 3 September 1936 between Arthur Jewitt (1) and the President of the Air Council (2). DEFENCE ESTATES hereby notify the former owners/successors that it has been decided that an exception under the Crichel Down Rules applies such that there is no requirement to offer any of the land back. Former owners or their successors in title can contact Defence Estates in person or through their Solicitors or agents in writing within 2 months of the date of this notice to Geoff C Dixon, Defence Estates Ops North, Gough Road, Cattterick Garrison, North Yorkshire DL9 3EJ. The successors in title should state and provide evidence of their relationship to the former owners.
