Notice is hereby given that on 15 June 2006 the Applicants presented an application
under section 107 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (the “Act”) to the
High Court of Justice in England and Wales (the “Application”) for an Order:
1. under section 111 of the Act sanctioning a scheme (the “Scheme”) for the transfer
of the whole of the insurance business carried on by Pearl Assurance (Unit Linked
Pensions) Limited, Pearl Assurance (Unit Funds) Limited and London Life Linked Assurances
Limited to NPI Limited; and
2. making ancillary provision in connection with the Scheme pursuant to section 112
of the Act.
A copy of a report on the terms of the Scheme (the “Report”) prepared by an independent
expert in accordance with section 109 of the Act and a statement setting out the terms
of the Scheme and containing a summary of the Report may be obtained free of charge

The Application is directed to be heard before a Judge of the Chancery Division,
Companies Court at the Royal Courts of Justice, The Strand, London WC2A 2LL, on 11
September 2006.
Any person who believes that he or she will be adversely affected by the Scheme is
entitled to attend (in person or by legal representative with advocacy rights) and
be heard by the High Court at the hearing of the Application. Any person who intends
to attend the hearing is requested to write to our solicitors, Freshfields Bruckhaus

and ideally before 28 August 2006, in order that we can be clear on attendee numbers.
