ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE LEWISHAM (SPECIAL PARKING AREA) (FREE PARKING PLACES) (DISABLED PERSONS) (AMENDMENT NO 3) ORDER 2006
1. Notice is hereby given that Lewisham Council made this Order under the provisions of section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on 20 March 2006. The Order comes into force on 3 April 2006. 2. The general nature and effect of the Order is, as part of revision of parking and waiting and loading controls in the Sydenham Road vicinity, to amend the Lewisham (Special Parking Area) (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) Order 2003, in order to add to the Order: New parking places for vehicles displaying a disabled person’s badge at: (a) Sydenham Road, 2 places along north side and 5 places along south side; with further places in close proximity to junctions with Sydenham Road at: (b) Girton Road, east side; Hazel Grove, west side; Kent House Road, west side; Knighton Park Road, west side and east side; Queensthorpe Road, east side; Silverdale, west side; Spring Hill, east side; and Trewsbury Road, east side. 3. Controls at disabled persons’ parking places specified in this amendment and in the 2003 Order are enforceable at all times. Exemptions from the restrictions include picking up and setting down passengers up to 2 minutes, Council and statutory undertakers’ vehicles engaged on various statutory duties, stopping to avoid an accident, police, fire brigade and ambulance service vehicles in an emergency and anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform. 4. Documents, including detailed plans, giving more detailed particulars of the Order and measures can be inspected between the hours of 10.00 am and 4.00pm on Mondays to Fridays at the offices of Lewisham Highways Development or Traffic group, Wearside Service Centre, Wearside Road, Ladywell, London SE13. 5. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument or relevant regulation made under the Act has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
