PROPOSED STOPPING-UP OF A LENGTH OF HIGHWAY AT HARDMAN STREET IN THE CITY OF MANCHESTER

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that, on the application of Allied London Property Investments Ltd, he proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act which will authorise the proposed stopping-up of a length of highway at Hardman Street, Manchester.
If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to Allied London Property Investments Ltd by Manchester City Council on 22 December 2005 under Ref 077352/FO/2005/C1.
Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours during the 28 days commencing on 20 March 2006, at the offices of Manchester City Council, Manchester Town Hall, Albert Square, Manchester, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Government Office for the North West (Planning), (quoting Ref GO/TNW 5082/35/1/142) at the address stated below.
Anyone may object to the making of the proposed Order, but the objection must be received by the end of the 28 day objection period mentioned above. Objections should be made in writing, quoting the above reference, to the Secretary of State, Government Office for the North West (Planning Casework), City Tower, Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1 4BE, or by e-mailing deborah.linney@gonw.gsi.gov.uk
Please bear in mind that any objections received will be passed to the applicant and other people affected by it, and those persons may contact the objector regarding the issues raised. The substance of the objection should relate to the loss of public right of way and not the merits of development taking place.

Schedule

The stopping-up is to enable erection of a mixed use development comprising offices (Use Class B1) with ground floor retail use: Use Class A1 (Shop), A2 (Financial and Professional Services), A3 (Restaurant and Cafes) and A5 (Hot Food Takeaways); basement car parking with related access and servicing and associated works.
