TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990
The Secretary of State hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section
247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping-up of Highways (County of Tyne and Wear)
(No 9) Order 2006”, authorising the stopping-up of highways at Cleadon Park Estate,
South Shields, to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice
to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted to Halsall Lloyd
Partnership by South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council on 24 November 2003, under
Ref ST/01194/03/LA and reserved matters approval on 9 March 2005 under Ref ST/01194/3/25/DM.
Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Secretary
of State at the offices of the Director, Environment Group, Government Office for
the North East, Citygate, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4WH, (quoting Ref GO-NE/05/5038/35/09)
and may be inspected at all reasonable hours at the offices of South Tyneside Council,
Town Hall, Civic Offices, Westoe Road, South Shields NE33 2RL.
Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof,
or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers
of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder
has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 20 March
2006, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any
provision contained therein.

The planning permission is granted for phase 2 of Cleadon Park, comprising 102 No
dwellings including 7 No bungalows, 16 No flats, 10 No 3-storey houses and 69 No 2-storey
houses on land at (Cleadon Park Estate), King George Road/Prince Edward Road, South
Shields, Tyne and Wear.
