THE A23 TRUNK ROAD (LAMBETH) RED ROUTE TRAFFIC ORDER 1999 VARIATION ORDER 2006

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that on 13 February 2006, it made the above-named Orders, under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Orders will come into force on 24 February 2006. 2. The general nature and effect of the Orders is to: (1) introduce a south-bound bus lane on Streatham High Road, between Gleneldon Road and Stanthorpe Road, which will operate from 7.00 am until 10.00 am and from 1.00 pm until 7.00 pm on Mondays to Saturdays (all vehicles, except buses, pedal cycles, taxis, dial-a-ride buses and solo motorcycles will be prohibited from being in the bus lane during these hours); (2) extend the length of the existing south-bound bus lane on Streatham High Road that currently starts south of the railway bridge at Streatham Station, so that it will start outside No 219 Streatham High Road; (3) extend the length of the existing north-bound bus lane on Streatham High Road that currently ends at a point 22 metres south of Nos 374 to 380 Streatham High Road so that it will end at the northern extremity of the triangular island situated at the junction of Streatham High Road with Station Approach; (4) remove the red route parking area from outside Nos 185 and 187 Streatham High Road and extend the adjacent red route loading areas to take its place; (5) remove the red route parking area from outside Nos 225 and 227 Streatham High Road and prohibit stopping by vehicles at any time (double red lines) in its place; (6) change the hours of operation of the red route loading boxes outside Nos 221/223/225 Streatham High Road and Nos 175 to 195 (odd Nos inclusive) Streatham High Road so that they will operate from 10.00 am until 1.00 pm on Mondays to Saturdays (when the bus lanes they are situated in are not in operation). 3. The road affected by the Order is A23 Streatham High Road in the London Borough of Lambeth. 4. A copy of the Order, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of: Transport for London, Traffic Orders Section, Road Network Development, Faith Lawson House, 15-17 Dacre Street, London SW1H 0DJ; and London Borough of Lambeth, Transport and Highways Group, 3rd Floor, Blue Star House, 234-244 Stockwell Road, London SW9 9SP. 5. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
