APPLICATION FOR CONSENT TO CONSTRUCT AND OPERATE A COMBINED CYCLE GAS TURBINE POWER STATION ON LAND ADJACENT TO THE EXISTING WEST BURTON POWER STATION, NOTTINGHAMSHIRE DN22 8BL
Notice is hereby given that EDF Energy (the “Company”) (whose registered office is
at 40 Grosvenor Place, Victoria, London SW1X 7EN) has applied for the consent of the
Secretary of State for Trade and Industry under section 36 of the Electricity Act
1989, to construct and operate a combined cycle gas turbine power generating station
of approximately 1,270 MW capacity on the Company’s land adjacent to the existing
West Burton Power Station. The Company has also applied to the Secretary of State
to direct that planning permission for this development shall be deemed to be granted
under section 90(2) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, as provided for in
paragaph 7(1) of Schedule 8 to the Electricity Act 1989.
A copy of the application, with a plan showing the area to which the development
relates, together with a copy of the Environmental Statement explaining the Company’s
proposal in more detail, and presenting an assessment of the environmental impacts,
with a Non-technical Summary thereof, are available for inspection during normal working/opening
hours at:

a charge of £30. Copies of the Non-technical Summary are also available, free of charge,

Any persons wishing to make representations to the Secretary of State about the application
should do so in writing to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, c/o Bay
2121, 1 Victoria Street, London SW1H 0ET, or by email to: walter.gusmag@dti.gov.uk,
stating the name of the proposal and the grounds of their representation, not later
than
24 February 2006.
Unless otherwise requested, copies of any representations received, will be made
available to Nottinghamshire County Council, Bassetlaw District Council and the applicant.
