A1110 BOWES ROAD LONDON BUS INITIATIVE

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Enfield propose to make the Enfield (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Special Parking Area) (Amendment No ) Order 200 and the Enfield (Free Parking Places) (Amendment No ) Order 200 , under sections 6 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. 2. The general effect of the Orders would be to: (a) introduce new lengths of “at any time” waiting restrictions in Bowes Road and also in Cross Road, New Southgate, and Betstyle Road at their Junctions with Bowes Road; (b) amend the location of certain free parking places and revoke others in Bowes Road so as to facilitate the introduction of new bus stop and bus stand clearways along the A1110 Bowes Road (see paragraph 3 below). 3. Further notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Enfield propose to introduce: (a) new bus stop clearways to operate “at any time” at the locations specified in Schedule 1 to this notice; (b) new bus stop clearways to operate from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm throughout the week at the locations specified in Schedule 2 to this notice; (c) a new bus stand clearway to operate “at any time” at the location specified in Schedule 3 to this notice. 4. Further notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Enfield (the Council) has approved, under section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the introduction of a pelican pedestrian crossing in Bowes Road to replace the existing zebra pedestrian crossing outside Arnos Grove station. The location of the crossings and the extent of the complemetary zig-zag markings are described in Schedule 4 to this notice. 5. Copies of the proposed Orders, drawings of the proposals and other relevant documents can be inspected at the Reception Desk, “B” Block, the Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield, Middlesex EN1 3XD, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive. 6. Persons desiring to object to the proposed Orders or make any other representations in respect of the proposals should send a statement in writing to that effect, and in the case of an objection, stating the grounds thereof, to the Head of Traffic and Transportation Services, the Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield, Middlesex EN1 3XD, quoting Ref T/TG52/898, by 15 February 2006. 7. Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, any letter you write to the Council in response to this notice may, upon written request, be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished. G Jones, Head of Traffic and Transportation Services Schedule 1 (New bus “stop” clearways to operate “at any time”) Bowes Road, the south side: (a) from a point 12.5 metres east of the south-eastern kerbline of Palmers Road eastward for a distance of 21 metres; (b) from a point 12 metres west of the common boundary of Nos 319 and 321 Bowes Road westward for a distance of 39 metres (substituting existing 7.00 am to 12.00 midnight clearway). The Service Road Fronting Arnos Grove Station Bowes Road, the north side: (a) from a point 11 metres east of the eastern flank wall of No 348 Bowes Road eastward for a distance of 15 metres; (b) from a point 45 metres east of the eastern flank wall of No 348 Bowes Road eastward for a distance of 25 metres. Schedule 2 (New bus “stop” clearways to operate 7.00 am to 7.00 pm throughout the week) Bowes Road: (a) the north side, from a point 5 metres west of the western kerbline of Betstyle Road westward for a distance of 37 metres; (b) the south side: (i) from a point 3 metres west of the south-western kerbline of Cross Road westward for a distance of 31 metres; (ii) from a point 7 metres north-west of the common boundary of Nos 363 and 365 Bowes Road north-westward for a distance of 37 metres; (iii) from the common boundary of Nos 263 and 265 Bowes Road north-westward for a distance of 35 metres. Schedule 3 (New bus “stand” clearway to operate “at any time”) The Service Road Fronting Arnos Grove Station Bowes Road, the south side, from a point 45 metres east of the eastern flank wall of No 348 Bowes Road eastward for a distance of 31 metres. Schedule 4 (Pelican Crossing and Complementary Zig-Zag Markings) Bowes Road, the centre of the crossing to be outside the common boundary of Nos 323 and 325 Bowes Road. The extent of the zig-zag markings to be from a point 25 metres east of the south-eastern kerbline of Palmers Road to a point 51 metres west of the common boundary of Nos 319 and 321 Bowes Road. 18 January 2006.
