THE TOWER HAMLETS (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) (NO 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2006
HIGHWAYS (ROAD HUMP) REGULATIONS 1999 AND HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

1. Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets proposes to make the above-mentioned Order under section 84(1)(a) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991. 2. The general effect of the Tower Hamlets (20 mph Speed Limit) (No 1) Traffic Order 2006 will be that no person shall drive a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour in any of the following lengths of street: Narrow Street, Limehouse Causeway, Spert Street, Horseferry Road, Northey Street, Shoulder of Mutton Alley, Brightlingsea Place, Ropemaker’s Fields, Mill Place, Island Row, Norway Place, Newall Street, St Annes Passage, Three Colt Street, Bates Street, Gill Street, Beccles Street, Rich Street, Grenade Street, Stocks Place, Salter Street, Trinidad Street, Milligan Street. 3. Under the Highways (Road Hump) Regulations 1999 and the Highways Act 1980 (as amended by the Traffic Calming Act 1992) the following traffic calming is proposed: (a) Raised junction entry treaments in Horseferry Road and Northey Street at their junctions with Narrow Street. (b) Raised junction treatment to Grenade Street junction with Rich Street. (c) Speed Table in Gill Street. (d) Speed cushions are proposed for Three Colt Street, Trinidad Street and Milligan Street. 4. A copy of the proposed Order and a plan showing the proposed traffic calming can be inspected by appointment at the offices of Environment and Culture, Transportation and Highways Section, 60 Southern Grove, London E3 4PN, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the expiration of a period of 21 days from the date on which this notice is published. 5. Any person desiring to comment on the proposed Order or traffic proposals should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof, to the above address within the aforementioned period of 21 days.
