The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he has made the following Orders: Orders under sections 10 and 41 of the Highways Act 1980, which provide that the roads which he proposes to construct along the following routes shall become trunk roads from the date when the Orders come into force: (i) a route (“the main route”) about 4.12 kilometres in length from a point about 0.39 kilometres east of the centre line of Pepperhill Junction overbridge to a point about 0.21 kilometres east of the centre line of Marling Cross Junction overbridge (ii) two routes to connect the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the main route with the A2260 Hall Road at Pepperhill Junction (iii) four routes to connect the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the main route with the A227 Wrotham Road at Tollgate Junction (iv) four routes to connect the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the main route with Henhurst Road at Marling Cross Junction to Cobham Services (v) one route to connect the westbound carriageway of the main route to the Petrol Garage west of Thong Lane overbridge (vi) one route to connect the Petrol Garage west of Thong Lane overbridge to the new westbound exit slip road at Marling Cross Junction. 2. An Order under section 10 of the Highways Act 1980, entitled The A2 Trunk Road (Pepperhill to Cobham) (Detrunking) Order 2005, which provides that a length of the A2 Trunk Road to be superseded by the new trunk road on the main route, shall cease to be a trunk road, and shall be classified as a classified road, from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the Kent County Council (who will become the highway authority responsible for that length) that the new trunk road on the main route is open for traffic. 3. An Order under sections 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980, in relation to the A2 Trunk Road and the new trunk road to be constructed by him between Pepperhill and Cobham junctions in the County of Kent. This Order is entitled The A2 Trunk Road (Pepperhill to Cobham Side Roads) Order 2005 and it: (1) authorises him to: (a) improve highway, (b) stop-up highway, (c) construct new highway (d) stop-up private means of access to premises, (e) provide new means of access to premises, all on or in the vicinity of the new road on the main route; and (2) provides for the transfer of the new highway to the Kent County Council as highway authority specified for it in the Order as from the date on which he notifies them that it has been completed and is open for traffic. Copies of each Order and the plans referred to in them may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours from 27 October 2005 until 8 December 2005, or within 6 weeks from the date of first publication of this notice if that period expires later, at the Highways Agency, Room 222, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL; Kent County Council, Strategic Planning, Invicta House, County Hall, Maidstone, Kent ME14 1XX; Gravesham Borough Council, Civic Centre, Windmill Street, Gravesend, Kent DA12 1AU; Coldharbour Library, Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, Kent DA11 8AE; and at Gravesend Library, Windmill Street, Gravesend, Kent DA12 1BE. Any person aggrieved by an Order mentioned in this notice who desires to question its validity, or the validity of any provision in it, on the grounds that: (a) it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, or (b) any requirement of that Act or of regulations made under that Act has not been complied with in relation to that Order, may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from the date of first publication of this notice.
