NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that Amec Group Limited, of Sandiway House, Littledales Lane, Hartford, Northwich, Cheshire CW8 2YA, is applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from King George V Dock, at National Grid Ref TQ/4360/8020, at the East End of King George V Dock, off of Woolwich Manor Way, in the borough of Newham. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 396 cubic metres per hour, 9,500 cubic metres per day and 3.5 million cubic metres per year, commencing October 2005 until December 2007 uninterrupted. The water will be used for pumping into the ground to balance groundwater being abstracted from the underlying chalk to enable excavation for the Docklands Light Railway Extension. A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at the Amec site offices reception, Thames Wharf, Dock Road, Canning Town, between 10 August 2005 and 7 September 2005.
