NEW ROADS AND STREET WORKS ACT 1991, SECTON 58

NOTICE OF SUBSTANTIAL ROAD WORKS FOR ROAD PURPOSES

AREA 10 TRUNK ROADS AND MOTORWAYS MAINTENANCE AGENCY

Three months advance notice is hereby given under the above act that the Highways Agency intends to close a section of the A550 trunk road for major maintenance works.
The Street in which these works will take place is the A550 trunk road. The A550 is mainly a rural road, with some urbanisation at the northern end towards the A41 in Hooton.
Work is expected to affect the carriageway, footpath and verge on the A550, between A540 at Two Mills to the junction with A41 at Hooton.

Work is expected to commence on 10 October 2005.

The works notified will include the following:

(a) Reconstruction and resurfacing of the carriageway and footpaths, highway drainage, upgrade and installation of safety fencing, upgrade traffic signs, upgrade of traffic signals at Two Mills junction and verge and horticulture maintenance.
(b) The work is expected to take 4 months from early October 2005 to early March 2006, with a Christmas shutdown window for a month from 9 December to 9 January 2006.
(c) the diversion route will be as per the plan, using the A5117 and M53.

Subject to the exemptions in the Act and Regulations under it, no street works may be executed for a period of 12 months from completion of the works described in paragraph 5 without the consent of the said highway authority, which is not to be unreasonably withheld.
