NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88
Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Environment Act 1995), that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by United Utilities Water PLC, for variation to existing Consent No 017370074 to discharge a maximum of 418 cubic metres per day of secondary treated sewage effluent from Nether Kellet Wastewater Treatment Works, off Main Road, Nether Kellet, near Carnforth, Lancashire to Nether Beck, a tributary of the River Keer at National Grid Ref SD 5018 6816. This application is to provide improved treatment to the sewage effluent via a mebrance bio-reactor and to reflect current treated volumes. Any person who wishes to make representations or objections with respect to the application should do so in writing to D Edwards, Authorisations Officer, The Environment Agency, NW Central Area Office, PO Box 519, South Preston PR5 8GD, not later than Wednesday 27 July 2005, quoting Ref c/016/a/05/v. The Environment Agency is committed to maintaining and, where possible, improving water quality. If, after full consideration of this application and any representations made by interested parties, it is decided that consent can be given, then conditions will be imposed to ensure that the effluent receives treatment before discharge to the receiving waters so that the above aims are met. Details of the proposal are contained in the register held by the Environment Agency at the North West Central Area Office, Lutra House, Dodd Way, Walton Summit, Bamber Bridge, Preston, Lancashire, and may be inspected, free of charge, between the hours of 10.00 am and 4.00 pm Monday to Friday inclusive.
