HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, SECTION 116

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Borough of South Tyneside, the Highway Authority, intend to apply to the Magistrates’ Court sitting at South Shields on 19 July 2005, at 2.00 pm, for an Order under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980, authorising the stopping-up of the following lengths of highways on the ground that they are unnecessary. The 8 metre-wide southern section of Beech Avenue, Whitburn from its junction with Rackley Way in a southerly direction for the remainder of its length (a distance of approximately 92 metres). The 1.9 metre-wide footpath along the eastern side of Holly Avenue from its junction with Rackley Way in a southerly direction for a distance of 83 metres. The 2.6 metre-wide footpath leading eastwards from Holly Avenue for a distance of 37.5 metres. The 1.4 metre-wide footpath from the eastern side of Beech Avenue leading south eastwards then eastwards for a distance of 44 metres. The 2.6 metre-wide footpath to the eastern side and parallel with Beech Avenue running in a north/south direction for a distance of 55 metres. The 1.6 metre-wide footpath to the western side and parallel to Beech Avenue running in a north/south direction for a distance of 62 metres. The 1.8 metre-wide footpath to the west side of Beech Avenue running in an east/west direction for a distance of 21 metres. The 1.6 metre-wide footpath running in a south-easterly direction for a distance of 80 metres. The 1.5 metre-wide footpath to the eastern side and parallel to Holly Avenue running north/south for a distance of 64.4 metres. The 1.7 metre-wide footpath running in a south/south-easterly direction for a distance of 63.5 metres. The effect of the proposed Order is shown on a plan deposited at the offices of Legal Services, Town Hall and Civic Offices, South Shields where it may be inspected, free of charge, between the hours of 9.00 am and 4.00 pm Monday to Friday.
