PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990, SECTION 69
ALDERSMEAD ROAD CONSERVATION AREA (EXTENSION TO)
Notice is hereby given under the provisions of the 1990 Act that on 17 May 2005, the London Borough of Bromley has determined that the areas described in the Schedule to this notice are areas of special architectural or historic interest, and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance their character or appearance. It has accordingly designated the areas as an extension to the Aldersmead Road Conservation Area. The principal effects of this area being designated as a conservation area are as follow: (a) The Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area. (b) It is an offence to cut down, lop, top, uproot or wilfully damage or wilfully destroy any trees in a Conservation Area without prior notice being given to the Council (subject to certain exemptions). Prior notice of intention to commence any of the above-mentioned acts, must be served on the Council, giving 6 weeks’ notice. (c) It is an offence to demolish any building (with certain limited exceptions), which is within a Conservation Area without the consent of the Local Planning Authority. (d) It is an offence to demolish any gate, wall, fence or other means of enclosure (with certain limited exceptions) of a metre or more in height where abutting on a highway (including a public footpath or bridleway), waterway or open space, or 2 metres or more high in any other case which is within a Conservation Area without the consent of the Council as a Local Planning Authority. (e) In carrying out any functions under the planning Acts and, in particular, in determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent, the Council and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area. (f) Special publicity will be given to planning applications, which are likely to affect the character or appearance of the conservation area. A plan (BCA 1C) showing the entire designated area is available for inspection at the Planning and Engineering Reception, Environmental Services Department, Bromley Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, Bromley BR1 3UH, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays.
