PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990
Notice is hereby given that the Ipswich Borough Council, in pursuance of its powers under the above-mentioned Act, have determined that the area to be known as Chantry Park Conservation Area is an area of special architectural or historic interest and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance the character or appearance of such area and the said Council have therefore designated such area (which is more fully described in the Schedule to this notice) as a Conservation Area. A plan showing the Chantry Park Conservation Area can be inspected during normal office hours at the Main Reception Desk, Civic Centre, Civic Drive, Ipswich, and at the office of the Director of Environment and Transport, Endeavour House, Russell Road, Ipswich. The principal effects of the designation of the Chantry Park Conservation Area are as follows: 1. The said Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of such area; 2. In carrying out their functions under the Planning Acts, and in particular determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent, the said Council and the relevant Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of such area; 3. Consent must be obtained from the said Council for the demolition of any building in such area; 4. Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in such area; 5. Six weeks’ notice must be given for planning applications for development in such area; 6. Consent must be obtained from the said Council (subject to certain exceptions) to cut down, top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy any tree in such area. Schedule Chantry Park Conservation Area consists of the whole of Chantry Park, is bounded on the north by Hadleigh Road, is bounded on the south by London Road, is bounded on the east by the rear of various properties in Lavenham Road, Milden Road, Anita Close and Hyntle Close and is bounded on the west by the boundary of the Borough of Ipswich. 11 May 2005.
