THE FOOD (CONTROL OF IRRADIATION) REGULATIONS 1990

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Regulation 3(3) of and Part III of Schedule 1 to the Food (Control of Irradiation) Regulations 1990 S.I. 1990/2490 as amended, that the Food Standards Agency, licensing authority of England and Wales in relation to premises in England and Wales, with the agreement of the licensee and with effect from 8 April 2005 varied the terms of a licence permitting the irradiation of a range of dried spices and condiments.

Subject The whole licence is varied. The licence previously required the licensee to use a particular, named laboratory for its microbiological testing of food within the scope of the licence. This variation allows the licensee to use any external laboratory for microbiological testing, provided that in every case:
;;;The laboratory used is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service for the testing being carried out;
the testing is carried out by or under the direction of a person who has the qualifications of a Food Examiner as outlined in regulation 4 of, and Schedule 2 to the Food (Sampling and Qualifications) Regulations 1990;
the licensee’s Quality Manager is to be responsible for interpretation of the result of analysis, taking advice from the laboratory;
the licensee keeps a record of the laboratory used and the person responsible for every analysis carried out together with its record of the results of analysis.
The remainder of the licence is unchanged.
